Quality food should not be a luxury; which is why Fyler Farms has an exciting new partnership with After the Harvest to provide flour that can be distributed within their network. After the Harvest is the largest local produce donor to Harvesters–The Community Food Network. Harvesters is their primary distribution partner, delivering produce via their gleaning and truckload programs to agencies within their service area. This unique partnership gives Harvesters access to fresh-from-the-farm produce that is otherwise unavailable to them–providing value, variety and quality to their produce distribution program. After the Harvest (ATH) rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables from going to waste and donates them to agencies that serve hungry people, primarily in Greater Kansas City. Their volunteers glean after the harvest, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. The majority of the funds they raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills. Flour is a staple across America, however it is not an item that is readily available in our community pantries. As a small business we are not financially able to provide donations of flour that would significantly benefit the local community food network, however we are committed to assist with this area of need. To accomplish this goal, we have created our Flour For Families program through which we will donate our time to mill flour for families in need. We are asking for individuals to partner with us through this program to assist with the costs associated with our milling operation. Customers have the option to make a one time contribution within the program, or sign up for an ongoing monthly membership. Your 20 dollar donation will provide 5 bags of our all purpose Baking flour to After the Harvest! Please visit our website if you are interested in making a 1 time contribution or signing up for a monthly membership. We look forward to working with you in this partnership to help families in need!
